How to Measure - Wood Blinds

1:27

Measuring for blinds and shades: make sure you’re using the proper tools for the job. Always use a steel measuring tape, as cloth tapes may stretch, giving you inaccurate results. Make sure your tape measure starts at a proper zero to get exact measurements and always measure to the closest 1/8 of an inch for best-fitting results. Choose whether you will be mounting inside or outside your window frame. Inside mounts complement your existing window frame or molding. Outside mounts offer a better light and privacy control. For inside mount, measure the length and width of the inside edge of your window frame in three different places. Use the smallest measurement for each when placing your order. For outside mount, measure the width and length of your window opening. For optimum light and privacy control, add 4 inches to both the width and height measurements.
